The idea of JOY being my theme for the year kinda just happened. I mean, I always set some sort of mantra for the year, but JOY literally landed on my lap after a discussion with a client. I could not shake it. The word JOY started popping up in unexpected places like on a calendar in the bookstore or a sign in a coffee shop.
I carried the theme of JOY into my weekly Monday Mantra’s thinking it would phase out. NOPE! I started receiving unexpected gifts from friends who also spotted bits of joy. I’ve received a coffee mug, book, and a calendar! I unexpectedly started a JOY campaign!
What is JOY?
Joy is defined many different ways. It is different from happiness in that it is more than just a state of mind. It is bigger than an emotion. Joy is housed in our hearts and souls. Author Randy Alcorn states, “Joy is an attitude of the heart.”
For me, Joy is the assurance that no matter what, God has my back. When my life seems out of control and unmanageable, I remind myself of the unspeakable JOY that I have in spite of and despite the chaos.
How do you define JOY? What does JOY look like in your life?
